Biography:
Bluegrass 1101 consists of members Danny Campbell on guitar and Brian Hicks on banjo. The duo was formed in September 2004 with a desire to apply the skills they learned from their teacher, Steve Lewis. Lewis is a National banjo and guitar champion.
With an arrangement of guitar and banjo only, they bring a new approach to traditional fiddle tunes and bluegrass standards. The holes left by the absence of bass, mandolin, fiddle and dobro are filled by their unique approach to backup.
Their first CD "Lessons" was released on April 2005. It was recorded on a laptop in a homestudio. The tracks were recorded live with guitar and banjo and the bass track was added later.
Bluegrass 1101 honed their talent every week at Woodlands Barbeque & Pickin' Parlor in Blowing Rock, NC for three years. They have also been playing craft festivals and bluegrass festivals, opening big name bands such as the Kenny and Amanda Smith Band. Their ability to have a full sound without taking up a lot of floor space has made them favorites for playing private parties and special events for emporiums and restaurants.
